Recast of packaging-ordinance will come
The so-called „Verpackungsverordnung“ (packaging ordinance) is ruling since 1991. It’s been modified seven times in the meantime. The seventh amendment will be the last one: A new regulation, then called „Wertstoffgesetz“, is soon to be enacted. We will translate Wertstoffgesetz with „recycables rule“.
The recycables rule forsees the use of a recybles bin, or eco-bin, like you wish. In this bin would be to collect everything what we used to call packaging so far. New is regarding the recycables rule, that as well plastic materials, metalls and synthetic resins will be collected with this bins in the future. These materials are listed under: same materials, not-packaging.
By collecting products like pans, baking-pans, pots, cutlery or even buckets, the share of recycable plastics and metalls per inhabitant shall be increased by up to seven kilos.
The communale parties and dual systems are clinching hard about the new rule. Both parties are aiming to collect the recycables bin and to recycle the contents. And both want to be branded as monopolised party in this respect in the to finalise wording of the „Wertstoffgesetz“.
That takes time, for sure. The german ministry of environment is expected to publish the first draft of the law not before late harvest 2013.
