The long discussed modified WEEE-directive (2012/19/EU) has been published July 24th, 2012 and was due to validity from august 12th, 2012.



On June 5th 2012 the regional court of Aachen decided that – clearly aware of the view of the Hamburg judges ¬– LED must be registered within EAR.  And therefore would have to be labeled with the obligatory crossed waste bin symbol (AZ: 41 O 8/12).

After a call from the Hamburg regional court dated April 13th, 2012, LED mustn’t be labeled with the obligatory crossed waste bin symbol. Reason: They wouldn’t underlie EAR.
