Registration, simplyfied
Each producer and importer of electronic products has to be registered at Germany’s Foundation EAR, otherwise he won’t be entitled to distribute goods over here. The point of registration must be dated before starting trade, meant to be for each single brand of the producer.
What do you need to register?
Since May 2016 producer without a branch in Germany need an Authorized Representative for WEEE. Just ask us.
Consequences of a faulty registration: Reprimands and fines.
If companies trading in germany are not registered or not completely correct, competitors might impose reprimands. Since introduction of ElektroG in 2006, missing or/and incorrect registration are warmly welcomed ground for reprimands, especially aiming to weaken producers of lamps wild trading without a ticket. More than regularly german ‚Lightcycle GmbH‘ from Munich sends warnings to (unfair) competing producers of LED. Lightcycle is a privately operating take back system for lamps and luminaires, which was founded in 2006 by big players Osram and Philips.
Following the experiences of attorneys, mostly missing registrations of companies or their brands are reason for reprimands, but lately more and more the inproper use of CE-tags gained growing relevance.
